1. Install it in AI

Use Codex or Claude Code on your computer with a local project open.

Copy this into AI to get help with setup:

Install the complete clipmivo-film folder at ~/.codex/skills/clipmivo-film. Read references/install.md in the package, check the local editing dependencies, and help me install anything missing. Complete setup only; do not generate images or videos.

2. Set up your API key

Images and videos use the same ClipmivoAI key and account balance. You can use your existing key.

Save the key locally as the CLIPMIVO_API_KEY environment variable. Keep the key out of chat. For help, copy this:

Guide me through setting CLIPMIVO_API_KEY locally so the Skill process can use it. I will enter the key on my computer, not in chat. Check only whether it is set, without displaying its value or submitting paid generation.

Which permissions and software do I need?

Key permissions: image:read, image:write, video:read and video:write. Add files:write when uploading reference media.

Local editing needs Node.js 22+, Python 3.10+, Shotcut/MLT, ffmpeg/ffprobe and the CLI-Anything Shotcut adapter. The setup instructions above ask AI to check these.

3. Tell AI what to make

Copy this and fill in the brackets. Paste a script if you have one, or start with your idea.

Use clipmivo-film to make a video for me.

Show me the shots and character-reference plan, and quote the next generation step. Wait for my confirmation before generating. Images and videos together must stay within my budget.
Let me review the character references before using them for video. Edit the shots into an MP4 and keep the project files for revisions.

A few useful details

When are credits used?: Installing the Skill, discussing the script and editing locally do not use ClipmivoAI credits. Your AI tool charges according to its own plan. Images and videos are quoted before generation, in separate stages. Regenerated media also counts toward your budget.
Can I change just one shot?: Yes. Keep the project files and tell AI, “Make shot 3 a close-up and keep the rest.” You can also revise captions or supplied music without generating new video.
What files will I get?: An MP4 and an editable Shotcut project. Keep the project and its media together. Leave AI running while it generates, downloads and edits.
